About The Aging Parent Roadmap
If you have started to notice those small changes in your aging parents. The little moment of forgetfulness, a hesitation on the stairs maybe, a conversation that felt different then yes you're in the right place.
The Aging Parent Roadmap exists for you the adult children who are in that early stage. The stage before anything is urgent. The stage where you can tell something is changing but you are still not sure what to do or where to begin.
This blog is a calm, practical place to learn. You will find honest guidance on the conversations worth having, the signals worth paying attention to, and the steps worth taking before crisis forces decisions that are harder to make under pressure.
What We Believe
Preparation is an act of love. When families plan early, they protect their parents' dignity, reduce conflict in the family, and give themselves more choices. We believe that adult children who are informed feel better prepared and prepared families navigate this transition with more unity and less regret.
We keep everything practical and clear. No medical jargon. No overwhelming checklists. Just one clear experience at a time.
The Foundation Behind This Blog
The Aging Parent Roadmap is built on The Quiet Shift Framework, a structured approach developed to help families recognize, accept, and prepare for the gradual changes that come with aging parents. The Framework moves through three phases: Awareness, Acceptance, and Preparation. The content on this blog follows that same path, guiding you from noticing early signs to building a real plan.
As Genovean grows, The Quiet Shift Framework will form the foundation of structured guides, tools, and resources designed to help families move through this transition with confidence.
About the Founder
The Aging Parent Roadmap was created by David Thompson, founder of Genovean. David brings over seventeen years of personal and professional experience supporting parents and grandparents through complex aging journeys across different health systems and countries.
That experience shaped something important: a deep understanding of what families actually need before challenges grow, and how rarely they get it in time. Genovean was built to change that challenge, to give adult children a trusted, steady place to learn and prepare, guided by real insight rather than guesswork.
David is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Genovean supports adult children who are preparing to care for aging parents before crisis forces decisions. Through the Quiet Shift Framework and The Aging Parent Roadmap, we provide structured guidance across leadership, health, family alignment, daily structure, and financial oversight. Our focus is clarity, planning, and practical preparation.
