GENOVEAN
Welcome!
Welcome to the GENOVEAN blog. The blog is something I never thought I would start but here we are. It materialized out of the hours spent looking after various members of our family. My dad through out his terminal illness to my mom who is now living with us. The challenges of looking after daily needs from health to doctors to looking after home needs to helping her to remember how to do trivial things.
All these things added up and took a great deal of effort. What surprised me was how little information was easily available. Although I could find information about legal items from a lawyer website as an example. I could also locate bits of caregiving information here and there. What I realized is that I had learned a whole pile of information over the years that would be very helpful to others.
My challenge was that I could not find a single place where I could get all the direction I needed. What I decided to do is take my 17 years of work looking after four different individuals and start blogging about it. I hope that the blog helps you with your goals, to get you to think about what it takes if you are going to be in the role.
We are also in the process of creating a companion toolset to this blog. I am currently in the process of creating a system where we have tool’s, checklists and training that will be available to you, those who are about to become caregivers. We hope to capture many of the tasks that you should think about and how to go about figuring if the right things are in place so your parents will live a caring and happy life. I truly hope this blog allows you and your family to keep your sanity though this process.
Where are you in this right now? Leave a comment below — I read every one, and your situation might be closer to someone else's than you think.
